digital asset provenance project
The next generation of the internet, web3, will include a decentralized web powered by the blockchain. asset3 leverages that capability to empower persons/entities to create provenance for their digital assets like software code, songs, documents, and other great ideas. Join the fun and create a record of origin for your important assets!
asset3 uses the blockchain to create an immutable record that shows a date of origin and ownership for an asset.
asset3 allows for record of your valuable assets like software code, songs, video, and other great ideas.
asset3 supports multiple asset formats like image (jpg, png, gif), text (txt, html, css), application (pdf, js), audio (mp3), and video (mp4).
The asset3 DApp is currently in beta. Test drive it now on the Ethereum Ropsten Testnet
You need a web3 supporting browser to use this Ethereum DApp … something like Mist or the MetaMask browser extension.
asset3 places a record of your asset on the blockchain. First, you create a title and summary of your asset (e.g. software code, important document, great idea). Next, you either upload or copy/paste you asset, which will then be digitally hashed. Using your account address you will then place your asset (the digital hash) combined with your address into a record hash on the blockchain. To confirm ownership and origin date for an asset, you merely input the owner’s address and an EXACT duplicate of the digital asset and submit for confirmation. Given the power of the blockchain you have an immutable record of your ownership of an asset at a given point in time.
Show provenance of your asset by putting it on the blockchain.
note: 0.007 ether fee to create record, in addition to gas.
Step #4: Submit to the blockchain after you have completed steps #1, 2, and 3.
Check to see if your transaction is complete.
Once your transaction is complete, check the below "View an Asset" to confirm details of your assets currently on the blockchain.

Step #3: Confirm ownership of an asset.
